EXP3: 5 real time image captures

PLAN:This is the plan of my bridge which seen from above,  below is the section of the bridge. The PLAN is same as the SECTION. I use vegetation on the top of the bridge to enhance the ecological function and at the same time it shows the technology of  the bridge.
SECTION
The bridge connect to the mountain and hovering above the clouds.

The sun shines through the bridge from the blue translucent glass.

This is the ECOLOGICAL YARD of the bridge. These vegetation can absorb CO2 or other polluting gas and they will produce oxygen with the sun. Students can breath fresh air as a result.

EXP3: Architectural mash up

principles of good architectures

I strongly believe that a building must balance all three to be considered architecture: function, structure and beauty. The most effective and memorable architecture, it that which it express its function in a meaningful and visually interesting way and  it complement or contrast with its surroundings. The question is: do these principles, meant to apply to physical architecture, apply to system architecture and more specifically clinical architecture? What is considered beautiful and what is considered ugly changes over time? What Vitruvius is saying is that architecture is about craftsmanship and technology.  Architecture is the apex of a people’s technology, for it is the technological environment that they create for themselves. Today, it's ridiculed for its boxy shape, gigantic lobbies, and modernistic decorations. The difference between a good application architect and a great application architect is the ability to craft an elegant solution in a way so as to delight the user. Obviously in the modern age, our control of the atom and thus the ability to produce energy from non traditional sources and thus harvest and fabricate non local or natural materials for construction, has made a major change in how the different people’s of the world produce their architecture.Understanding the complexity of architecture can seem daunting. To understand this complexity, you must find out about the science of structures, the craft of building, and the art of space-making, as well as the terminology of architecture.

Week10: EXP3 Landscape Design

This landscape is called Huangshan which is loctated in Anhui province in China, I chose this landform to carry on in my cryengine is because I like the moment when the sun rises but the sunlight is blocked by the mountain body, however those diffuse sunlight is covering on the hovering clouds below the mountain and make them looks clean and pure.

This is the landscape that I developed in cryengine.

shadow on monument

two concepts of my monument are creative use of light (Luis Barragan) and contrast (Farshid Moussavi).  Now I got an ideal from Russell's lecture is that I will use the shadow ( as you can see on the flat white board) to create an special TEXTURE for the idea creative use of light. I was about to use artificial light and transparent material and show in the night time to enhance the contrast between the monument and environment. Now I have to rewrite my concept for electroliquid aggregation, below are my two questions:

1. Do you think my idea that use shadow as a special texture fit the concept " creative use of light "?

2. My new concept of electroliquid aggregation is " use the shadows on the monument to enhance dynamic structure. " Is it appropriate?

Electroliquid Aggregation

Two concepts:

Luis Barragan:
  • creative use of light
Farshid Moussavi:
  • contrast

electroliquid aggregation:

  • Use shadows and structure to enhance the contrast between the monument and environment surrounded.

week2: EXP2 CryEngine 3 Environment

Environment:

In  week2's independent study, I roughly designed the landscape with a river, riverbank, some flat space for people standing or carparking, little hills and finally the vegetarian covering the surface of hills.

My monument:

My monument's ideas are based on "creative use of light" from Luis Barragan and "contrast" from Farshid Moussavi. The reason that I combined them together in stead of separating them is these two concepts are actually parallel which means they do not have any similarity of any conflict. So I can use"contrast" to show the difference between my monument and the environment, I can use " creative use of light" to get a unique way of sunlight covering on my monument.

Below is my drawing from sketchbook.

Week4: EXP1 final submisstion of developed model

This is the 2D section of the primary design of my final model. The two words are: tiny(above) and move(below)

This is the front view of my model

This is the overview of the whole model from top

This the section of the work space for Jiro Uno, which is loctaed at the above studio of the whole model. The outshape  of the studio is the bowl with translucent glass as the wall. There are two white benches for Jiro to make sushi and there is a lift in the middle of the platform.

this is the work space for Shinya Kimura which is the below part of the model, there is also a lift for transporting motorbike. The wall surround are made of concret just in need to give strong support for the wall to resist the  compression  from the underground.

Week3: developed sketchup model

Below are the 3 textures that I chose to paint on my sketchup model

Below is my developed(not fully developed) sketchup model.

This is the above ground studio, by the way, I made the sushi into 1:100 scale to make it visible.

This is below ground part

I made two 3D models for the works of Shinya Kimura and Jiro Uno,a motorbike and a piece of sushi.
